LISTENING TO MUSIC WITHOUT GETTING LOST - live from Cleveland's famous Bop Stop

Now that warm and sunny days are here, I feel such a sense of return to a more normal life again.

It is invigorating to work with musicians in live music settings and it has been an incredibly busy few weeks, with rehearsals and a broadcast from the Bop Stop in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Bop Stop is usually used for non-classical performances, and it definitely has a club feel to it. I got invited to present a classical music live stream show for the Cleveland International Piano Competition taking place later this summer.

The concert is part of a three part series introducing to the audience different aspects of piano performance.

The viewers get to contribute with comments and questions, and those who participate in all three shows get to vote in the Cleveland International Competition on a special prize. What a great idea!

I decided to title my presentation ‘How to listen to music without getting lost’. We invited the audience to look at art works and to envision stories in conjunction with my performances.

Audience sizes on the internet are usually quite a bit bigger than they would be on ground, and we too had a pretty large audience tuning in and asking questions.

My favorite was: How do you not get lost as a performer? It’s a question I get a lot. You can hear all about it in the show. The full concert will be available online, I’ll make sure you get a link.

Take a look at this very short sneak video of me mid show. It is really just a very quick impression.

You can see the gear on the tech desk and the microphones and cameras all around me. They even placed some cameras inside the piano. In this shot the crew is behind the banister. It was fun to have them in the recording space with me.
