My online life - LIVE STREAM CONCERTS and ONLINE FESTIVALS

What an inspiring Summer this is, filled with performances and festivals, lots of interviews and even some summer fun around town.

We just finished PIANO WEEK ONLINE EDITION, a piano festival headquartered in London with faculty and participants from all over the world. With 16 different time zones presented in the festival, the scheduling must have been quite a massive puzzle! And it all worked beautifully.

As part of PIANO WEEK the faculty was invited to present recitals. It was an amazing feeling to perform my first live stream concert from my home studio to audiences all over the globe. Take a look at this sampler form the concert of Charles Griffes’ The Night Winds.

The Night Winds is part of the set of three Tone-Pictures by American Impressionist composer Charles Griffes (1884-1920). The piece is based on an excerpt from the poem The Lone Lake by Edgar Allan Poe, the American writer particularly known for his tales of mystery.

I love reading this poem before performing the piece. It really sets up the mood perfectly:

But when the night had thrown her pall upon that spot, as upon all,

And the mystic wind went by murmuring in melody - then - ah then

I would awake to the terror of the lone lake
