Understatement: Finding the Essence in Music (Part 1)

As I am about to embark on my Swiss concert tour this month, I am thinking about what it means to me to be a performer. In this world, pop culture significantly influences how classical musicians present themselves. Some performers in the industry are over-sensationalized and I believe it detracts from the actual message found in their music-making.

We are too often blinded by the "celebrity" and lose the actual message found in a musician's performance. It can be hard to find the right balance between glitz/glamor and understatement as a performer. That is why I am always impressed  by the Swiss culture and its ability to achieve this balance. Understatement is something Swiss audiences very much appreciate and value.

Please take a moment from your busy day and watch my video on this aspect of listening to the music rather than being blinded by too much hype. Watch the video above!
