Alaska Tour
Summer is in full swing with its beautiful long evenings and early sunrises.
I just returned from a concert tour aboard the Queen Elizabeth on her voyage to Alaska. It was absolutely brilliant. Let me share with you some impressions from the iconic ship and from Alaska.
Here I am in the main lobby of Queen Elizabeth with its famous mural just after concert no. 1.
For this tour, my programs features a mix of repertoire, including two large scale works: Beethoven’s beloved Waldstein Sonata and Brahms’ monumental third piano sonata. The audiences were quite enthusiastic to hear these longer works. I might include more of these larger pieces in my upcoming voyage tours.
This is me on one of my free days at Mendenhall Glacier enjoying the awe-inspiring grandeur of Alaska.
Alaska is home of a large population of bears and there are plenty warning signs for hikers everywhere.
I did end up going on several solo hikes, and did at times get a bit of a queezy feeling, but luckily never encountered a bear in the woods.
